Now that the dust has settled on the past year, it’s becoming more and more difficult to maintain the passion and motivation for our New Year’s Resolutions. Regardless of if your goals centered around increasing business profits or creating a bubbling company culture, there are some key things to remember!
When creating goals that you want to be not only achievable in a year but quantifiable, remember the acronym SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Timely). Following this structure when creating a goal will make it immensely easier to achieve it.
Reinforce Positive Behavior
Praise is essential in the workplace, but how you praise your agents will reap different results. Focus on praising behavior and effort, not necessarily just results. Praising efforts will establish a thriving workplace that values growth and even encourages fellow agents to take on praising of their own. Consider spotlighting your agents on social media and sharing their successes with the world, you’ll be amazed at the impact this will have on productivity and the work environment!
While stoicism is probably too far in the wrong direction, maintaining cool confidence regardless of the situation in front of you will set the tone for your firm, your clients, and yourself.
Close The Computer
The emails will wait, the fires will put themselves out, and you will regain the most productive hours of your day. So, don’t rush to check your ever-growing inbox every morning; instead, focus on your priorities first.
Recognize Pesky Distractions
Distractions are a productivity killer, so don’t let any pesky distractions ruin your new year. Instead, recognize what might be pulling you away from your daily goals and pivot. If the constant ping of 9 am emails disrupts your morning priorities, start your workday on Do Not Disturb. You will finish your goals faster and be more present for your emails.
Prioritize Your Priorities
Of the 50 things you’re rushing to complete every single day as a busy leader, only a few are responsible for your brokerage’s success. Find those few tasks and prioritize them above everything else.
Set yourself and your company up for success this year by implementing these tips! And if you’re curious how to boost your business even more, send us a message at Agent Operations, where we help you focus on your strengths while we handle the rest!
